Width

Almost there.

Measure first. We confirm it before anything is built.

We confirm the size before anything is cut.

Measure first, at a jeweler or against a ring you already wear. Our bands run wider than most with a comfort fit interior, so that number gets you close rather than exact. The sizers settle it on our actual profile.

Pick the one that looks right. We send that whole set, and you tell us which fits.

Get measured at a jeweler, or measure a ring you already wear. We post five sizers centered on that number.

About this ring

A ring made with a fossil you found.

You send us your fossil. We crush it, pick the best pieces, set them by hand to fill the channel and seal them under a solid clear coat — then send the finished ring back with a certificate recording your find, and every piece we did not use.

We check every fossil when it arrives. If yours can’t be used, we tell you first: choose one of our fossils for the same ring, or we post yours back and refund you in full.

What goes into every Your Own Fossil Ring

Inlay

Your own fossil

Crushed, the best pieces picked and set by hand. No two are alike — no one else has your fossil.

Band

Ceramic, tungsten or titanium

Black or white ceramic, tungsten or titanium. Chosen for how it wears over decades, not how it photographs.

Finish

Sealed clear coat

A solid layer sealed over the fossil.

Fit

Comfort interior

Rounded inside edge, so it slides on and sits without biting.

Fossil submission

Send us one fossil — one you found, were given, or have kept for years. We crush it, pick the best pieces, and set them by hand to fill the inlay channel.

How much to send

  • A piece about the size of a golf ball or larger (roughly 1½–2 inches across) — or a good handful of pieces from the same fossil
  • More is better: the more there is, the better the pieces we can choose for your ring

What works

  • Most fossils: shark teeth, dinosaur bone, petrified wood, ammonite, fossil coral
  • Soft, chalky or crumbling fossils work too, but they may crush to a powder rather than pieces

What doesn’t

  • Fossils held together with glue or resin

Please send only a fossil you own and that was collected legally. By sending it, you confirm you have the right to have it permanently crushed and set into your ring.

If it can’t be used. We look at every fossil when it arrives. If yours is too small or can’t be used, we contact you before anything else happens: choose one of our fossils for the same ring, or we post yours back and refund you in full.

Every piece we do not use comes back with your finished ring.

How it works
  1. Order the ring. Not sure of the size? Choose the free sizers — we confirm the size before anything is cut.
  2. Pack your fossil in tissue or bubble wrap inside a small box, with your order number on a note inside. Please use a tracked service.

  3. We let you know it has arrived. Your 2–3 week build starts that day, once we have your size.
  4. Your ring ships with its certificate and every piece of your fossil we did not use.

Not sure your fossil will work? Send us a photo before you order and we will tell you.

The certificate

Every ring comes with a certificate card recording your fossil — what it is, where and when it was found, and who found it — and that it is the fossil set in your ring.

Add the details as you order, or send them with your fossil. We write down what you tell us, and we will check the spelling with you before the card is made.

Ring sizing

Not sure of your size?

  • Choose Send me a free sizer and tell us whether the hand is small, medium or large.
  • We post that whole set — every size in that band, half a size apart. Free, and nothing to send back.
  • Wear them for a day, then message us the one that fits.

Your 2–3 week build starts from that message, not from the day you ordered.

Already know your size? Choose it and we start right away. Every US whole and half size from 4 to 15.

Because your ring is made from your own fossil, it cannot be remade for a different size — so we confirm your size before anything is cut.

Care

Day to day

  • Soft cloth and mild soapy water. Dry it fully.
  • Take it off before swimming or showering.
  • Store it apart from other jewelry so nothing harder knocks against it.

Keep away from

  • Acetone, nail polish remover and solvents — they attack the clear coat protecting the inlay.
  • Abrasive cleaners and polishing compounds, for the same reason.
Shipping & returns

Free shipping within the US.

Rings made from your own fossil are final sale. Each one is made from a specimen only you could send, so it is final from the moment you order — the one exception is a fossil we can’t use, covered under Fossil submission. If anything is unclear, ask us first — we are glad to help.
