Who makes my ring?
Thomas does, in a shop at home. Form & Forge started in 2018 with one badly made bentwood ring and got better from there. The whole story is here.
How long will it take?
Two to three weeks from the day we have your size, plus shipping. Every ring is made to order — nothing sits on a shelf waiting.
If you use the free sizer, the clock starts when you tell us which one fits, not the day you ordered.
Need it sooner? Expedited processing is $50 and moves your ring to the front of the bench — about a week instead of two to three. It does not speed up the post, or the time a sizer takes to reach you.
I do not know my ring size. What now?
That is the normal case and it costs you nothing.
Choose Send me a free sizer and tell us whether the hand is small, medium or large. We post that whole set — every size in that band, half a size apart — free, with nothing to send back. Wear them for a day, tell us which fits, and we build your ring in that size.

What if the ring still does not fit?
If your finished ring still does not fit properly after using our ring sizers, we will remake it for free.
Skipped the sizers and chose your own size? We can still exchange it for another size, for a $50 exchange fee plus shipping. Either way, start within 30 days of delivery. Our rings are made in fixed sizes and cannot be resized.
What sizes do you make?
Every US whole and half size from 4 to 15. If you need something outside that, ask — it is usually possible.
Most designs come in 4mm, 6mm and 8mm widths at the same price. The width is chosen on the product page. Fit and feel change with width, so we send sizers in those same widths — size in the one you intend to buy.
What are the rings made of?
Bands are titanium, tungsten, stainless steel, black ceramic or white ceramic, depending on the design.
- Titanium — light, dark gray, nickel free, repolishable.
- Tungsten — heavy, mirror polished, the hardest metal we set.
- Stainless steel — familiar and easy to live with, takes a patina you can polish back.
- Ceramic — extremely hard, very light, holds its gloss for years.
Inlays are opal, wood, stone or fossil. Each material paragraph on the product page tells you how that one behaves.
Is the fossil material real?
Yes, and we are specific about what that means. It comes from one established supplier in Utah who issues a certificate of authenticity identifying the species, and we keep those records.
The inlay is crushed fossil set under a clear coat, not a carved piece of tooth — and it is low-grade material that was never destined for a collection. Where the species cannot be identified, we describe it as dinosaur bone rather than guessing at a name.

Can I have it engraved?
Yes, and it is free. A private message inside the band, added at checkout.
Two things to know: an engraved ring cannot be returned or exchanged, even for size, because it cannot be sold to anyone else — so use the free sizer first. And we cannot engrave white ceramic, so the option does not appear on those.
Can I customize a ring?
Often, yes. Color changes on an existing design are the usual request and are usually straightforward. Send us a note through the contact page with what you have in mind.
How do I look after it?
Warm water, a little mild soap and a soft cloth, then dry it thoroughly. Take it off before swimming or showering, and keep it away from acetone, solvents and abrasive cleaners — those can damage the protective finish that seals the inlay.
What is the warranty?
A limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, for as long as you own the ring. Impact damage and ordinary wear are not covered — the details are here.
What is your return policy?
Standard, non-custom rings can be returned within 30 days of delivery, less a $50 return fee. The ring must come back unworn and undamaged. Return shipping is yours, and original shipping is not refunded.
Rings with unique materials, engraving, personalization, memorial or customer-supplied materials, or other custom work are non-refundable. Contact us before sending anything back. Returns and exchanges in full.
How does shipping work?
Free shipping within the US on every order, no minimum. Faster options are available at checkout.
We ship internationally to most countries, with rates calculated at checkout. If yours does not appear, write to us and we will see what we can do.
Can I make a ring like this myself?
You can, and we will help. Thomas also runs Bentwood Ring Supplies, which sells the materials, blanks, adhesives and tools used to build these rings — to beginners, to veteran makers, and to other ring-making businesses.
There are instructional videos and classes too. It is genuinely where a lot of makers start.
How do I reach a person?

Asking about a ring before you buy is welcome — we would far rather answer a question now than remake a ring later.
