About this ring
A ring made with fabric from the uniform they wore.
You cut one 6-inch square of plain fabric and send it to us. We set it into the band by hand, seal it under a solid clear coat, and send the finished ring back with a certificate naming who it honors and every piece of fabric we did not use.
One piece of fabric is enough for more than one ring, if others in the family would like one too. Every ring is made here in our shop, one at a time.

What goes into every Service Member Memorial Ring
Band
Ceramic, tungsten or titanium
Black or white ceramic, tungsten or titanium. Chosen for how it wears over decades, not how it photographs.

Uniform fabric submission
Please send one 6" × 6" piece of plain fabric cut from the service member’s uniform.
The fabric should be cut by you before it is sent to Form & Forge Designs. We do not require or accept complete uniforms.
Please send fabric only. Do not include:
- Rank or insignia
- Name tapes
- Unit or organizational patches
- Branch emblems or logos
- Flags
- Medals, ribbons, badges, or decorations
- Identification or manufacturer labels
- Any other embroidered or recognizable military markings
The purpose of this piece is to preserve the fabric they wore, not military insignia or decoration.
By submitting the material, you confirm that you own it or have permission to have it permanently altered and incorporated into your memorial piece.
Unused fabric will be returned with your completed order.
How it works
- Order the ring. Not sure of the size? Choose the free sizers — we confirm the size before anything is cut.
- Cut one 6" × 6" piece of plain fabric from the uniform, as described above.
- Post it to us, flat, in a padded envelope or small box, with your order number inside. Please use a tracked service.

- Your ring ships with its certificate and every piece of fabric we did not use.
Ordering more than one? One 6" × 6" piece is enough for several rings. Order them together and send the one piece.
Keep the rest of the uniform at home. We only ever need the one piece.
The certificate
Every memorial ring comes with a certificate card naming who it honors and the uniform its fabric came from.
Add their details as you order — their name and rank as they should appear, branch and years of service — or send them to us later with your fabric. We will check the spelling with you before the card is made.

Not sure of your size?
- Choose Send me a free sizer and tell us whether the hand is small, medium or large.
- We post that whole set — every size in that band, half a size apart. Free, and nothing to send back.
- Wear them for a day, then message us the one that fits.
Your 2–3 week build starts from that message, not from the day you ordered.
Already know your size? Choose it and we start right away. Every US whole and half size from 4 to 15.
Because each memorial ring is made from your own fabric, it cannot be remade for a different size — so we confirm your size before anything is cut.

Care
Day to day
- Soft cloth and mild soapy water. Dry it fully.
- Take it off before swimming or showering.
- Store it apart from other jewelry so nothing harder knocks against it.
Keep away from
- Acetone, nail polish remover and solvents — they attack the clear coat protecting the inlay.
- Abrasive cleaners and polishing compounds, for the same reason.

Memorial rings are final sale. Each one is made for one person, from fabric you send, so it is final from the moment you order. If anything is unclear, ask us first — we are glad to help.

How wide is 8mm?
The same ring in all three widths, so the number means something before you choose.
- 8mm is our most popular width and the one most people picture when they think of a wider band.
- 6mm sits between the two — noticeable, but easy to forget you are wearing.
- 4mm is the slimmest we make, and the usual choice for a narrower hand or a quieter ring.
- Fit changes with width, so size with the same width you are buying.
Not sure of the size?
Four ways to get close enough for our sizers to do the rest.
- Measure a ring that already fits that finger. Any jeweler will read it in a minute, or measure straight across the inside in millimeters.
- Wrap a strip of paper around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, and measure that length in millimeters.
- Most jewelers will size you for free, no appointment needed.
- Measure at the end of the day. Fingers are at their smallest in the morning and in the cold.
